Prague Music Performance

Prague Music Performance was founded by Czech pianist Jan Bartoš and the late Zenon Fishbein (Manhattan School of Music in New York) in 2010. The project organically combines a festival with an educational institution. PMP presents concerts across musical genres, master classes, lectures, and residencies. PMP also endeavors to include other fields of art, such as the fine arts, film, or literary art.

The list of renowned artists PMP has introduced throughout its history includes Alfred Brendel, Anthony Braxton, Roscoe Mitchell, John Zorn, Kronos Quartet, Thurston Moore,  Garth Knox, Gareth Davis, Roland Dahinden, Mary Halvorson, Ikue Mori, Brad Mehldau, Uri Caine, Esperanza Spalding, Dave Douglas, Joey Baron, Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner, Marc Ribot, Julian Lage, Jon Irabagon, Kresten Osgood, David Thomas, Barry Guy, Maya Homburger, Quatuor Diotima, Miroslav Srnka, Mahan Esfahani, Hildegard Kleeb, and many others.

For those who cannot afford to study at the world’s top music schools and academies, PMP Institute & Festival offers an opportunity to work with the most prominent artists and teachers. Also, PMP takes part in or independently organizes benefit events for charitable purposes to artistically contribute to and support individuals and projects with diverse needs.

PMP closely collaborates with other art institutions such as International Music Institute DarmstadtCzech Philharmonic, Prague Academy of Performing Arts, National Gallery in Prague, National Film Archives in Prague, The DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, international festivals Prague Spring and Music is.

PMP Institute & Festival is supported by the EEA and Norway Grants 2014-2021, the Czech Ministry of Culture, the State Fund of Culture, the Capital City of Prague, Stadler-Trier Music Foundation, and the Pamela Stacy Fund.

I support the PMP's efforts to start a permanent tradition of a prestigious institute in our capital. I am happy to become the patron of the Prague Music Performance.

Today there are thousands of festivals and it is difficult to excel from the lot. Prague Music Performance is one of very few of it! Jan Bartoš and his team are so committed that it is guaranteed for the future of this undertaking. Besides of master classes by world-renowned musicians, they organize student concerts and it helps young musicians to let themselves known to the public. I think that the Czech Republic can be very proud of this organization!
