PMP – Prague Music Performance Institute & Festival was founded in 2011 by Czech pianist Jan Bartoš as a platform bringing together distinctive voices from classical, jazz, and experimental music.
From the outset, PMP has developed along two main lines: the Festival, focused on concerts, premieres, and interdisciplinary projects, and the Institute, focused on education, artistic residencies, long-term collaborations, and publishing.

Its activity is shaped by those moments when a strong artistic vision meets the conditions that allow it to take form. Periods of activity and quiet are both natural part of this process.”

Artists presented by PMP include John Zorn, Kronos Quartet, Anthony Braxton, Roscoe Mitchell, Brad Mehldau, Esperanza Spalding, Uri Caine, Thurston Moore, Einstürzende Neubauten, Garth Knox, Mary Halvorson and Marc Ribot. The Institute has worked with artists including Alfred Brendel, Ivan Moravec, Murray Perahia, Leon Fleisher, Anthony Braxton and Roland Dahinden.
PMP also collaborates with other cultural institutions and festivals, among them the International Music Institute Darmstadt, the Tri-Centric Foundation in New York, the Czech Philharmonic, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the National Gallery Prague, the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, the National Film Archive, the Prague Spring International Music Festival and Music is.
