ESPERANZA SPALDING EMILY’S D+EVOLUTION October 28, Archa

ESPERANZA SPALDING Presents: EMILY’S D+EVOLUTION GRAMMY award-winning singer-composer-bassist Esperanza (Emily) Spalding is announcing spring and summer tour dates for her newest project Emily’s D+Evolution… Rekindling her childhood interest in theatre, poetry and movement, this new project delves into a broader concept of performance. Originally conceived the day before her birthday, during a “sleepless night of full moon inspiration”, Emily’s D+Evolution will be performing all new material that Esperanza says “unfolds as live musical vignettes”. “Emily is my middle name, and I’m using this fresh persona as my inner navigator. This project is about going back and reclaiming un-cultivated curiosity, and using it as a compass to move forward and expand.” says Spalding. “My hope for this group is to create a world around each song, there are a lot of juicy themes and stories in the music. We will be staging the songs as much as we play them, using characters, video, and the movement of our bodies.” TICKETS Esperanza Spalding Presents Emily’s D+Evolution Tour

THE MUSICAL BOX presents Selling England By The Pound – November 4, 2015 – Forum Karlin

THE MUSICAL BOX presents Selling England By The Pound November 4, Forum Karlin, 8pm In the autumn of 1973, a musical event was about to re-define the concept of a rock show. Five British musicians, under the name of Genesis, began touring Europe and North America to promote the release of their fourth album, Selling England by the Pound. Both the theatrical imagination of Peter Gabriel and the intricacy and intensity of Genesis’ music reached their apex, and were enhanced by surrealistic sets and special visual effects, leaving the audience spellbound. For what proved to be one of the first-ever multimedia performances, Selling England by the Pound remains a vivid memory for those privileged to have attended it. The timelessness of the artistry was such that almost 30 years later, the show is still contemporary, and enjoys a cult-like following. It has become a Classic… To pay homage to the artistic genius of Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford, that Classic is being restaged by The Musical Box. THE PROJECT A team of musicians, technicians and collectors invested years of work in reproducing the original Selling England by the Pound concert in painstaking detail. Both […]

Einstürzende Neubauten – LAMENT

EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN / LAMENT EUROPEAN TOUR November 15th, 2014 Prague – Retro Music HallOnce upon a time … Around  1980,  many  young, creative people  perceived  the  exceptional political  situation in West Berlin as normal; and one in which it also seemed that anything was possible. When Blixa Bargeld was asked whether he would perform at the “Moon” club on April 1, 1980, he agreed, dreamt up the band Einstürzende Neubauten, and then called a couple of friends. The band’s first lineup consisted of those musicians, who happened to be free that night: Blixa Bargeld, Gudrun Gut, N. U. Unruh and Beate Bartel. In 1981, Blixa Bargeld, N. U. Unruh and FM Einheit recorded an “inaudible” LP in a recording studio: Kollaps is a frontal attack on conventional listening habits of that time, which the mainstream had made deaf. For lack of money (among other reasons), the band’s range of instruments consisted of “found” and self-‐built objects made of  sheet steel, drills, hammers, a “non-‐voice” that plucked a text out of shreds of  German  words and  professional  studio  equipment,  which  was  consistently  used  despite  their  real attitudes toward technical modifications. Through this approach, the construct Einstürzende Neubauten has become one of the few German bands to […]
